99 merc tracer wgn FS runs good no insp 203k mi $650/bo [26 Jun 2009|09:44am]
1999 mercury tracer wagon. $650 / b.o. as is.

203,000 miles (mostly highway), second owner. body in fair condition, some dents and scrapes, minor front end damage, no major collisions, not rusted, no leaks... runs well, good tires and brakes, plugs and wires. transmission lines have all been replaced, decent radio / cassette deck, original timing belt was replaced at 100,000 mi, brand new windshield, all glass is good... cruise control works fine, suspension is old, AC needs charging (fixing?), electric windows fine, locks all work but not from passenger button... interior is not filthy, but carpet is old... i removed the rear interior panels and speakers to make more cargo space a few years ago, and have them with the car uninstalled.

does not pass inspection - needs :

"check engine" light - obd code is p1518 - intake manifold runner control?
has exhaust leak under heat shield at front of engine (passed emissions with a band-aid on it)

it's been a reliable car, all told. the biggest problems i had with it were due to an electrical short in the hatch door wires which i was able to fix easily, once i found it. i have the haynes manual, will include.

Serotta "Nova Special X" 57cm (22.5") 1989 - awesome bike frame for sale! [09 Jun 2009|12:25pm]
Serotta "Nova Special X" frame 57cm (22.5") [center crank to center top tube] exc condition (very few very tiny paint chips, no spills) serial # 90823 made in 1989 w/ colombus steel tubing (cromoly SLX), 3 tone fade paint (fuscia, orange & lemon) less than 500 miles.

The bike is not built complete but comes with some cool old Campagnolo Nuovo Record parts (circa 70's - 80's) such as : front and rear derailleur (great cond) side pull brakes (great cond, but don't fit frame w/out drop nut), crankset (somewhat worn), and seat post - Cianelli rams horn handlebars and stem, the wheels are older worn Campy hubs w/ a 5 speed Regina freewheel.

One owner, my father had it built as a second bike for club racing, then used some parts for another bike. I was going to rebuild it, but it's too small for me (I'm several inches taller than Dad). It's really beautiful, the pics don't do it justice... the paint has an inner glow that really shines in the sunlight! also note the graceful curve of the chain stays, the resolution for the seat stays at the seat tube, and the sculpture and finishing at all the joins!

$850.00

(Northampton, Ma - shipping or pickup is up to you.)

noo to00ons [05 May 2009|10:43am]
boy i sure do like this 80kidz album... one of my recent fave remix producers cut a mighty tasty record!

(lol, "miss mars" starts all in the right channel. deaf djs beware.)

i like the first cut on the new iamx record a lot, nice groove to it, i'd dance... sits right next to "bullet" and "it's no good", for that classic Haven flavor. good record overall but not a lot of dance floor cuts.

mmmm, and got some smashing new buzz to drop on saturday, lots of bouncy grindy goodness... including a stunningly good remix of the new yeah yeah yeahs single!

good news on the MM front... [22 Apr 2009|08:41am]
(in response to my letter titled "Medical Marijuana Relieves Tinnitus")

Adam,

While I have reservations regarding HB 2929 which I indicated in my prior e-mail to you, I do support HB 2160 which would regulate the medical use of marijuana by patients approved by physicians and certified by the department of public health.  As you know,  a number of states already have laws on the books addressing this issue and there appears to be widespread support within the medical community and the public for the legalization and regulation of medical marijuana.

Although I do not sit on the Committee which will hear this bill, I would support this legislation should it come to the full House for a vote.

Future Eve
SEPTEMBER MOURNING: If Emily "M" Lazar looks familiar to you, it's probably because you've seen her in a magazine or on a billboard in ads for Draven, Manic Panic or Coffin Case, to name a few. If you're expecting that her band does bland fashion-runway music, you've got quite a surprise coming. September Mourning is metal as hell, with a bit of electronics thrown in for good measure. Their demo was produced by guys who worked with Candiria and Lamb of God, just to give you an idea. They're from New York City and this will be their first appearance at Dracula's Ball.
STAGE TIME - 10:35PM
(Hear Music)
DAS ICH: Getting respect for your studio recordings and getting respect for your live concerts are two different things. Das Ich has consistently had both. Celebrating their twentieth anniversary this year, Das Ich has performed their driving blend of industrial music and gothic themes in several dozen countries, many of which do not speak the band's native language (German). A Das Ich show is no mere concert; it's a performance. Expect to hear some of the band's best-known club hits as well as some of their most recent material.
STAGE TIME - 12:05AM
(Hear Music)
DJ Fallen: Making his very first Dracula's Ball appearance is DJ Fallen from Ohio DJ Spider: Besides being a favorite at the Ball, she may be North Carolina's tallest DJ DJ Addam Bombb: He writes music, hosts events in Massachusetts, DJs - what doesn't he do?

this will be my third time at the Ball, i'm really honored to be invited back and i'm looking forward to a reunion with the boys from Das Ich! i also haven't seen the lovely miss Spider in far too long, and needless to say i'm looking forward to seeing my friends and favorite faces and places in Philly! come down and party with us!!!

new music [06 Apr 2009|09:49am]
just listening to some tunes.

so the new Apop record is pretty cheesy, it has some good moments but they burn out fast.

i'm enjoying the new Zombie Nation disc quite a bit, it's a lot more diverse than i expected, i like the songwriting that's come through on this one. has moments that remind me of the Gorillaz, some tracks i'll skip, maybe a dance cut or two in there (i like "seas of grease" and think that Fake Blood needs to remix it for me).

Tiga's single "shoes" is... well, it's dumb. do dj's play this somewhere?

and i'm digging the new Depeche, but you know it's hard not to like vocals like that. "wrong" is a great single, but the remixes all kill the emotion of the original. sounds like Trentemoller used the same beats as his "konichiwa" remix - which was brilliant - but double time doesn't work in this case. "fragile tension" is what Apop was reaching for, and missed. not the strongest DM record ever, but it sits in there nicely.

ok, i'm turning this stuff off and gonna go listen to deep ass bass like the Bug or something.

medical marijuana reform in Massachusetts! [02 Apr 2009|11:02am]
two new bills regarding marijuana have been presented to the MA state senate and house of reps:

decriminalizing medical marijuana in Ma:

http://www.mass.gov/legis/bills/house/186/ht02/ht02160.htm

legal and taxed marijuana in Ma :

http://www.mass.gov/legis/bills/senate/186/st01/st01801.htm

this is an important subject to me.

it's no secret that i've been a marijuana user for many years.

(waits for laughter to die down)

i'm deaf in my right ear due to an accidental head trauma that occurred when i was 12.

all i hear is a constant ringing that is about 4 decibels louder than anything else i can hear with my good ear, any environmental sounds, whatever.

my diagnosis is "chronic severe persistent tinnitus", which means i hear ringing all the time and it's loud. furthermore, i experience this on multiple frequencies - several of which (8 distinct ones) were identified at UMass, but there are more than that. it's very much like "white noise" only with some very narrow band, high pitched frequencies pegged up in the red - and is due to the lack of input from my ear to my brain, like closing your eyes and seeing colorful swirly flashy stuff.

it's all the time, like having a mosquito in your ear, or in my case, several mosquitoes in your ear. all the time. all the time. all the time. i've lived with this condition for 25 years, and at times can be pretty dysfunctional (ask anyone who's ever seen me punch myself in the head and bash it against the floor and things trying to get the noise and the pain out, it's a little scary).

the ONLY thing that has proved to give me any sort of relief from this is the use of cannabis. that doesn't make the ringing go away, or really any "quieter", but it makes it less distinct, less sharp and less painful.

in california, medical marijuana is prescribed to patients who suffer from persistent tinnitus. I would be thrilled to see our good and progressive state catch up on this issue.

if you support these bills, please use this link to the NORML action alert page and send a couple of quick letters to the right places : http://capwiz.com/norml2/state/main/?state=MA&view=myofficials#0
